Matt joined our litigation team in February 2020, shortly prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, having practiced for two years predominantly in family law. Navigating with aplomb the challenges brought by the global pandemic, he quickly became a valued member of our team and rose to the position of Associate in August 2020. Following various successes, Matt was made a Senior Associate in July 2022 and thereafter continued to cement himself as an integral member and leader of our growing team.
Matt has grown a multi-faceted and diverse practice over the past few years, acting in a range of commercial disputes including contract claims, property disputes, equities and trusts, estate disputes and insolvency matters. Matt has successfully acted in several trials over the past few years in superior and appellate jurisdictions. In recent times, Matt’s practice has taken on a distinctly insolvency flavour, acting for and against various external administrators in a variety of different contexts.
Matt’s promotion is a testament to our Path to Partnership program, which he has been involved with over the past couple of years. He is passionate about helping people and using his legal knowledge and skills to deliver desired outcomes for his clients. This next step will amplify his ability to continue to do that, with the support of our strong team of lawyers at Watson Webb.
Matt is a tenacious and personable lawyer who is looking forward to continuing his client-first approach to practice and empowering his clients to feel confident and informed of their legal rights, whatever they may be. He is also looking forward to developing new relationships with clients and referrers to support them in their practice and endeavours.
Matt thanks the firm for this opportunity as well as the various colleagues, clients and counsel who have supported him along the way. We are looking forward to watching him grow and go from strength to strength in this new role in 2026 and beyond.
